How does homestead exemptions affect my mortgage payment? In Florida?
Homestead exemption in the state of Florida will reduce your home's essed value by $25,000. For example if the county thinks your home's market value is $100,000 your property taxes will only be taxed on a $75,000 value. Your mortgage payment with a lender will include your property taxes. The bank wants to make sure they are paid. Do not ume that your property taxes will be the same as the previous owner. When a property is sold the property essor may reess them. Also you may have an increase over the time you own a home which may increase your mortgage payment over time. If you have any questions on a particular property call your local property appraiser and they will be able to give you an estimate and if you have that number and divide it by 12 you will have an idea how much your mortgage payment will change.
