Does a roof MELT????????????????

There is a strip of asphalt that runs along the middle of each shingle. As the sun warms the shingles, the course above adheres to the asphalt on the course below. The heat from the sun also warms them to the extent that they will form to the shape of the house as well, which further seals the roof. Hope this helps.
