How do I change my name?

I had a girlfriend who changed her name - this is America, realize. To change your last name, you have to go to court and you need to be of legal age. To change your first name, all you need to do is start calling yourself that, and I could be wrong but I don't thing legal age matters at all. Think about it - Jim, Jimmy, Joseph, Joe, Margaret, Maggie. Nobody tells you that you can't call yourself Sammy instead of Samuel. In my friends case, it was a lawyer's counsel - just start calling yourself by a new first name, if you want.
